I have to Post . . .

Seems I have to post something as KG said I never did. . . of course, she's the pot calling the kettle black! Today it's about buying shampoo. Just get Suave. My pet peeve in purchasing is toothpaste. . . for goodness sake, make one kind that does everything and people won't have to buy 3 different kinds to get clean teeth, fresh breath and fight cavities! And none of that gel stuff. It's like washing off grease!

Anyway, this is what I have been up to. Last week I canned 35 quarts of green beans and froze 630 ears of corn. Sarah and I worked one night till 9:30 putting up corn. Ben (he's 7) helped pick beans and corn. Said he was a good farmer and hadn't decided if that was what he was going to be, or somebody who digs and finds stuff.

Anyway, that new kitchen? It's a disaster area! I think I slung corn all the way to the ceiling! But it's done for the winter, and we will have something to eat.

Sarah and Joey and Mike and me went out for a celebratory dinner last night. Chicago pizza. Good stuff. There's still several steps to go, but what we have been praying for for a long time is coming to fruition. Can't be more specific than that, yet. But I will explain in about 2 weeks.

I bought red checked gigham to make curtains for the kitchen, haven't done that yet. With the dark counter tops, I thought red would be a good accent color. There's a lot of red in the "coffee" border. Haven't gotten the kitchen painted either. I have a small round table that I want to put a red checked table cloth on, and put my antique rockers (if Mike will refinish them) in the kitchen. To add to the rest of my old crap, eh, stuff.

Got fabric to make Michele pillows; haven't done that yet. Got Sarah 2 blouses cut out; haven't finished them yet. Trying to get our ancestral church/graveyard on the KY Heritage list and National Register. That's proving to me a lot of work, too. Haven't finished that yet, and the Jackson reunion is the 31st.

I've been busy; having a nervous breakdown or something. Probably more "something". But that's going to end in a couple of weeks, too.

Now to serious stuff, how much more cheating will the Olympic committee allow China? I can't even watch the events because I know so much of it is "communized". And you can only watch so many skinny kids twist their bodies into unimaginable shapes until your arthritis tells you that you hurt all over!

And for the presidential candidates? I think I'm going to write in Tug-of-War. He does what I tell him to do and he doesn't crap on any body. He's brown, so he would get the Mexican/Negro votes; he's a member of a Caucasion family so he'd get their votes. He loves everybody, women are crazy over him. Kids love him. Let's just all write in my chocolate lab for president. And he fetches!

Now back to canning. Looks like a bumper crop of apples and grapes this year, so get your order in for whatever jellies you want Going to get another cutting of rhubarb so I can make rhubarb/strawberry jam. Grew my own strawberries, too! Right outside the back door. Jelly making begins next week. . . need lots of sugar!

Gotta can Ashton some applesauce, and his mama some apples for pies. As a matter of fact, apple pie sounds good so I may make one tomorrow. I picked enough green beans today to can Karen some in pints, so while they are cooking I can make an apple pie! And homemade ice cream. Dang, I'm getting hungry and just finished taco soup!

So have I written enough? There's been a lot going on, but it's also been a hurry up and wait situation. . . luv, mom/mrt
