Seems there's no rest for the wicked! We've been working since 7:30 this morning -- hard work.
Ben came about 7:30 so I had to cook bacon and Mickey Mouse pancakes. When we finished, like the last bite, he was ready to pick grapes. We ended up putting 9 gallons of grapes in the freezer to take out later for jelly.
Then we picked more corn and took to Mama Jean, where we picked up apples. Then we started pulling off grapes. . . we, being me. Ben had enough corn in the little red wagon so he set up shop in the front yard and sold 44 ears for $5. He's rolling in dough!
While all this was going on, Mike, Ricky, and Ronnie were digging a hole next to the house to put in the new water line. Joey and Sarah came up and he did most of the drilling through the basement wall to get the line inside. Sarah and her friend Jennifer picked corn, then beans. I was still pulling grapes off the clusters.
About 2:30 we kind of found a stopping place and ate a sandwich. Then the operations moved to Aunt Helen's. We got home from there about 6. While we were resting, Rick came and needed help getting his water line in, so Joey and Mike took off with him. Sarah made some kind of Mexican casserole out of whatever we could find and we got to eat about 7:30. It was good; we were all so tired and hungry we'd have eaten SOS!
Ben got sick with a stomach virus and went home about 3. He's better now. After throwing up a couple of times.
And yesterday, while they were digging the lines to the road, Rick cut through the phone cable and shut off everybody's phone from here to Kingdom Come. AT&T came out this morning, but it was way after lunch before the backhoe got here to dig out the line. It was about 5 when the phone lines came back on. . .
Oh, the joys of country life! I'd rather be lost in the woods than found in the city! luv, mom/mrt
