It's Snowing

It is snowing, blowing, cold, miserable day. I haven't been outside. I trust my instincts to know that the white stuff on the ground is snow. . .

And what have I accomplished? Nothing. Felt good. May do it again tomorrow. But I'm hungry so I'm going to have to find something to eat. Spouse ate my leftover BBQ chicken/pineapple/onion pizza for lunch. Angry doesn't cover how I felt! May have breakfast for supper. . . luv, mom/mrt

I Thought. . .

I thought last week was busy. . . well, this week has started off to be the same way. Last week I made: 2 cakes, 24 cupcakes, brownies, 2 chocolate pies, 2 coconut pies, 3 skillets of cornbread, chocolate chip cookeis, potato soup, green beans and dressed eggs -- and I don't think I got to eat a bite of any of it! (And other than the cakes it was all from "scratch".) It was for the "sick and afflicted" in the neighborhood, a kid I wanted to make happy, or for a funeral dinner. And I did our taxes! Every day I was baking something! Except Sarah's birthday cake; I got it at DQ.

Monday I did the laundry and cleaned house. It's a good thing because: Tuesday I met Karen for lunch and visited at the hospital; Wednesday (today) I made curtains for a room at the hospital, made Todd's card, went to town and got my car fixed where somebody slammed a door into it, and visited at the hospital; Thursday Aunt Bernie is having surgery (is it "angeoplasty"?) and will be home either that night or on Friday. I think she is expecting me to be there to keep anybody from coming in and cooking in her kitchen (except me!).

For somebody who doesn't "work" I surely do keep busy! And sometime I have got to do the painting and sewing stuff that's been sitting around. . . wonder why I never get around to doing it? . . . luv, mom/mrt

Death and Taxes

One of them is going to get me -- probably taxes. . .Oh, wait! I don't have to pay taxes any more. . .I forgot to. . .Isn't that what our new IRS leader said "I forgot!"

One thing I have determined. We're going to have to have more kids. Well, the baby turned 31 Saturday, and we just don't have any deductions. The IRS is adamant; we cannot claim Angel or Tug as deductions. Fur babies don't count? What has this world come to? I'm thinking invitro -- maybe 8 babies at a time! Then I can set up a web page for people to donate money to me so I can take care of them. . . OH my gosh!

Then again, Osama bin Obama is going to cure all our troubles with his "stimulus" plan. . . Let me think: the government doesn't earn any money since their income comes from the working person. So, they take from the "rich" and give to the poor, until the rich are poor. . .Isn't that socialism? Unless the workers quit so they don't have to pay taxes, and then where is the gov't going to get their money?

And what is this about a train from Las Vegas to Disneyland? If they keep robbing from the workers, nobody will have enough money to go to either place!

Getting off my soap box. Going to do more laundry. Mailing taxes tomorrow. Dern. luv, mom/mrt

Granny's Apron Strings

I've started another blog, just to add photos of things I've made. There's just one photo, tho, because I've had to charge my camera. Hopefully, when Jifner sends my paper pretties and Dawnee shows me how, things will pick up later. . . Still waiting for all the other stuff to get done. . . luv, mom/mrt

Still Waiting . . .

I'm still waiting to paint my kitchen and bathroom.

I'm still waiting to finish all my sewing projects.

I'm still waiting to finish my crocheted shawl.

I'm still waiting for Michelle to send me pictures.

I'm still waiting for Jennifer to send my paper goodies.

I'm still waiting for the housecleaning fairy to clean up after the ice storm.

I'm still waiting for the next storm to hit -- tomorrow.

I'm still waiting. Period.

THE Winter Storm of 2009

Hopefully these photos will show some of the devastation just in our neighborhood. . . I ain't stoopid; I didn't travel far. The top is a photo of the bradford pear that hit Aunt Helen's house. The middle is our purple plum. The last one is a hedge row beside the barn across the road. . . I'm tired of downloading; it takes forever on dial up! After the ice melted today the trees/bushes that were left popped back up like nothing had happened.

Thankfully we were warm and well fed, and even had TV and satellite, after we got Randy's generator. The O'Connells and Carrs were with us from Tuesday to about noon today. The electricity came on about 8:30, and so did the phone! We had wood heat, gas cook stove and water heater and "city" water. . . only thing was we had to watch TV by kerosene lamp. We cleaned out everybody's fridges. Before we got the generator we kept the food in coolers; fridge stuff, we shut the lid; freezer stuff we left the lid open. Until today the temperature never got above 30; from 13-30.

There are still thousands without electric power. We pray that nobody is without heat and are here for a "refugee" center if needed. . . Aunt Helen was, jokingly, hoping nobody else would find out about our refugee center! We had it pretty good. . .

It surely is quiet here without out guests! Mike is watching the "stupid" bowl and I'm playing puter. But I'm tired so I'm going to find something on the other TV. Hope you all are warm! luv, mom/mrt
