THE Winter Storm of 2009

Hopefully these photos will show some of the devastation just in our neighborhood. . . I ain't stoopid; I didn't travel far. The top is a photo of the bradford pear that hit Aunt Helen's house. The middle is our purple plum. The last one is a hedge row beside the barn across the road. . . I'm tired of downloading; it takes forever on dial up! After the ice melted today the trees/bushes that were left popped back up like nothing had happened.

Thankfully we were warm and well fed, and even had TV and satellite, after we got Randy's generator. The O'Connells and Carrs were with us from Tuesday to about noon today. The electricity came on about 8:30, and so did the phone! We had wood heat, gas cook stove and water heater and "city" water. . . only thing was we had to watch TV by kerosene lamp. We cleaned out everybody's fridges. Before we got the generator we kept the food in coolers; fridge stuff, we shut the lid; freezer stuff we left the lid open. Until today the temperature never got above 30; from 13-30.

There are still thousands without electric power. We pray that nobody is without heat and are here for a "refugee" center if needed. . . Aunt Helen was, jokingly, hoping nobody else would find out about our refugee center! We had it pretty good. . .

It surely is quiet here without out guests! Mike is watching the "stupid" bowl and I'm playing puter. But I'm tired so I'm going to find something on the other TV. Hope you all are warm! luv, mom/mrt
