Yesterday was spent cooking. I canned 21 quarts of different kinds of dried beans (brown, navy, mixed, black eye peas), so I have 21 meals ready for this winter! I also made Redneck Ryan a pot of beans, Mexican cornbread and fresh apple pie. Then I had to cook supper!
Used all my "cackle berries" and "Jersey bourbon" so have to go to the grocery today to replinish. Because tomorrow Sister Karen is coming with four of her friends, and two of our neighbors, for chicken and dumplings and chocolate pie -- and fresh green beans and corn. Sis said she is bringing a box -- empty -- to get the green beans I canned for her and some corn.
Michelle put in her order for apple pie -- in January. She figured she better get her order in early!
Also have to make "Cornbread" some applesauce. The apples on the tree at the "white house" are ready so I will be working on them the end of the week.
Have a reunion Sunday, which will require more food.
And then someone had the audacity to mention "cleaning house"! I didn't know you had to clean?!?!? I was under the impression that dust was a country accent, and you don't wash windows (the 'film' is a natural sun filter). And if you leave enough books on the piano, dust can't get to it.
You can eat or drink out of any dish in my house. Just wash it first. There's no sense in washing everything at once! It will just have to be done again!
And that sticky stuff on the kitchen floor? What's the cat going to have for a snack if you keep mopping it up? Cheesh! Those people who clean house all the time? They're just not thinking things thru!!
So when I get thru cooking for everyone, I can relax and crochet! Because that kitchen which is part green and part antique white? Looks good! Just leave the paint can out where people can see that I am in transition.. . .
And always leave the vacuum out. If someone comes in, you can say "I was just getting ready to vacuum!" See how easy house cleaning is? luv, mom/mrt

I am a firm believer that dust is a protective surface!
My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance!
