Still Cooking!

It started out a normal day. Went outside to drink my coffee and enjoy the birds and thought "I'll pick some beans for the reunion tomorrow." Well, that was 5 gallons of beans ago! So I've spent most of the day breaking and canning 14 quarts of green beans. And probably won't get to eat any of them as I have hungry kids -- from coast to coast!

Tomorrow is the Jackson reunion. We start with a worship service at Tar Fork Church, built in 1889. A lot of my ancestors are buried there, and were involved in building the church. My grandfather and great-uncle, both gone now, were the last surviving members. It is a bit nostalgic to use the same pews and pulpit that have been there since it was built.

I had some extensive rennovations done last fall. The church building was painted inside and out, and new windows were installed. The original tin ceiling was repaired, and the man who did the work came up with the idea of using the good ceiling tins to fix some that were damaged, and then he put a big cross in the ceiling to cover up the hole he made. It really looks good. Hope everybody else is pleased with it. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Still waiting for something that we've been praying for. It will happen, but the devil got into somebody and has put a hitch. It will slow things down, but it won't stop it.

Guess that's all. Pray for the flooded people in Florida, and for the ones along the Gulf Coast that, apparently, are going to get hit by a big hurricane. . . Did you know that hurricanes start in the Sahara Desert? I saw that on TV. The winds blow up over the desert and then when they hit the ocean they begin to spin and pick up water causing the hurricanes. . . Now you know "the rest of the story!" luv, mom/mrt
